Minimizing Pumping Energy Cost in Real-Time Operations of Water Distribution Systems Using Economic Model Predictive Control

نویسندگان

چکیده

Optimizing pump operations is a challenging task for real-time management of water distribution systems (WDS). With suitable scheduling, pumping costs can be significantly reduced. In this research, novel economic model predictive control (EMPC) framework WDS proposed. Optimal are selected based on predicted system behavior over receding time horizon with the aim to minimize total energy cost. Time-varying electricity tariffs considered while all required demands satisfied. The novelty choose number pumps operate in each station as decision variables order optimize costs. By using integer programming, proposed EMPC applied benchmark case study, Richmond Pruned network. simulation an EPANET hydraulic simulator implemented. Moreover, comparison results obtained those trigger-level demonstrates significant benefits EMPC.

Real-Time Optimization for Economic Model Predictive Control

In this paper, we develop an efficient homogeneous and self-dual interior-point method for the linear programs arising in economic model predictive control. To exploit structure in the optimization problems, the algorithm employs a highly specialized Riccati iteration procedure. Simulations show that in comparison to conventional interior-point methods, our solver is a) significantly faster per...

Real-Time Distributed Economic Model Predictive Control for Complete Vehicle Energy Management

In this paper, a real-time distributed economic model predictive control approach for complete vehicle energy management (CVEM) is presented using a receding control horizon in combination with a dual decomposition. The dual decomposition allows the CVEM optimization problem to be solved by solving several smaller optimization problems. The receding horizon control problem is formulated with va...
